I overwatered it. Then I changed its soil to a dry one. Was that correct? Should I put it in the sun?

You did well.If you find its roots are rot,you 'better cut off the rotten roots.Wait for it to come back to growing, then put it into the sun,but not direct sunlight. This plant likes warm and humid climate, the sandy soil should be loose and rich. (Poor soil drainage could result in your plant’s roots drowning.) The suitable temperature for the growth is 15℃ to 25℃, and can not be less than 5℃ in winter.
